Win 10 Win 7 Desktop
Simple, it's better for work. My 2nd gen i7 win 7 machine boots to login/desktop faster than my new 'better' win 10 7th gen i7. Generally works better for what I want - faster. Just getting long in the tooth. Win 10 fools you with 'fast' boot times using a version of sleep rather than a hard shut down. From hard shut down it's no better. IMPORTANT: Starting with Windows 10 Creators Update, Microsoft seems to have disabled list, details, and content view in the desktop area. Nascar drivers averages and statistics. So, as of now, there is no way out there to enable list, details and content view for desktop icons in Windows 10 Creators Update (version 1703) and above versions.
Win 10 Desktop Like Win 7 Desktop
Well, where do i start to answer your why?? Lets just say that i work on my computer and find all the animated stupidity unhelpful. I understand that i could somehow make it less tedious by speding time on customising it but i would rather spend that time on something more fun. Classic Shell was great but its no longer supported so suggesting it as a solution is not longer term. Andre DaCostais suggesting another third party solution.

I just think microsoft should incorporate the option in windows 10. There are potential problems with every Windows Feature update however Classic Shell is now open source so one would hope someone other than the original developer would make necessary changes in the event a future Windows update breaks it. Also, Classic Shell does change other things such as the Start button (you need a separate download for the classic Win7 orb) and the Windows Explorer ribbon.
So, if you want classic Windows 7 view in Explorer you need ANOTHER 3rd party program, e.g. OldNewExplorer, and hope that it continues to be supported in the future.
