Black people are discriminated against, but some black men and women will look down on DARK skinned black girls. This is a term ONLY used to describe women, this is not used to describe men. Men get to just be men, and its women who are subject to this. As a term of social enlightenment (the idea of being educated on current events, mindful of racism/discrimination, aware of your suppression in society, and actively taking part to seek justice or right wrongs), we say “woke”. Its basically the idea that black people slept on issues for so long and were okay with things being how they were, and now we’re done. We’ve woken up and we’re not dealing with white nonsense anymore.

To not take the word of someone else or look to them to build you up, stay woke and always take care of you because not every brown person out there will look out for you like you’re looking out for them.
